City of Minneapolis, Minnesota

The culture of Minnesota is one that’s unique to an area influenced heavily by immigrants. Scandinavian Americans, German Americans, and Polish Americans are just a few of the many groups that populate the state. Working in cold agriculture and mining, Minneapolis is the intersecting point where each culture meets the rest.

Minnesotan traits typically consist of a set of manners known as Minnesota Nice. The people of Minneapolis share a strong sense of community and beliefs, making it one of the nicest places to live. As a result, it is not uncommon for everyone to greet you and go out of their way to treat their neighbors well. The atmosphere in Minneapolis and the rest of Minnesota is definitely a happy and calm one.
Each year, the Minnesota State Fair takes place and attracts well over a million people. Advertised as The Great Minnesota Get-Together, the fair includes fine art, science, agriculture, music, and, of course, food. Over the years, the fair has become well known for its seed art, butter sculptures, and birthing barn.

At the Minnesota State Fair, dozens of foods are offered on a stick, including deep fried candy bars. Don’t be confused; these foods are common in Minnesota’s cuisine. If you’re looking for a drink, Minnesota is also home to Summit Brewing Company and Hamm’s Brewery!
The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area is known as the Arts Capital of the Midwest. With major fine art museums like the Walker Art Center and culture like the Minnesota Orchestra, it’s easy to see why. In total, the number of theater seats per capita in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area comes in second only to New York City.

As more immigrants moved to the state, German and Scandinavian foods became more popular. Soon enough, sausages, sauerkraut, and lutefisk were all adopted as traditional cuisine. On top of that, Minnesota also holds popularity thanks to the hot dish and jello salads.
